The Old Course in St Andrews is renowned throughout the world as the "home of golf". Golf has been played on the Links at St Andrews since around AD 1400, and every five years St Andrews hosts the world-renowned Open Golf Championship, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world. There are five 18-hole courses and one nine-hole course which can be enjoyed by visitors.
